NBA- Miami Bounced Back from a Tough Lost and Beat the Kings 115-102
The role of guard Dwyane Wade was of vital importance to the Miami Heat’s victory over the Sacramento Kings 115-102, which snapped them out of a two straight defeat streak. Before this game, Miami Heat had a tough lost against the Lakers, who beat them in the final seconds. Nevertheless, this time Wade was impressive and he never gave a chance to the defense of the Kings, which couldn’t react to his hostile basketball. Ending with a double-double of 34 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and four blocks, Wade (FG 10-16) didn’t have any response from rookie guard Tyreke Evans, who despite of scoring 30 points (FG 10-19) lost the individual duel against him. Entering the first quarter, both teams were energetic and determined to attain a lead, so in the first minutes baskets came back and forth for Miami and Sacramento. But it wasn’t until the last two minutes of this initial quarter, that the Heat had a run of 9-0 to close the period ahead, 30-25. Wade scored 12 points for Miami on this period alone. Starting the second quarter, Miami was trying to extend their lead, while the Kings were trying to cut down the diference. However, the great contribution of Beasley was too much for the Kings and with a run of 25-15 in the last 8 minutes of the quarter, Miami ended 59-44, at half time. Despite of attaining a lead of 16points in the third quarter, Miami couldn’t achieve a bigger lead. The Sacramento Kings on the other hand, were fighting and trying to decrease their opponent’s lead and with two three-points of Omri Casspi, the Kings ended losing just by 11 points, 88-77. The final quarter had the same tempo and expectations. Miami still hold the advantage and the Kings were battling to keep scoring consistently. But with 5:42 left in the match, the Kings managed to shorten the gap 91-97. However, this was the closer they could get on the scoreboard since Wade with a pair of baskets and Richardson with a three- pointer put their lead again in double-digits 104-91. Just towards the end of the game, Miami kept their good shooting and the Kings couldn’t do anything else, losing 115-102. At the end of the game, Heat’s head coach Erik Spoelstra stated that despite their recent defeats, he’s seen a great evolution in his team, which is veering into the right path step by step. “Really if you only focus on the result you can look at it a little bit distorted. But the process in which we have moved in . . . we feel like we’ve been making some good steps ahead. This is a very tough place to play against a team that is playing at an extremely high level at home,” stated Spoelstra. The best scorers for the Miami Heat were Dwyane Wade with 34 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds; Michael Beasley with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists; Quentin Richardson with 20 points and 5 rebounds; Dorell Wright with 19 points and 5 assists; and finally, Udonis Haslem with 15 points and 6 rebounds. For the Sacramento Kings, the best scorers were Tyreke Evans with 30 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists; Donte Greene with 21 points and 3 assists; Omri Casspi with 14 points and 3 rebounds; and ultimately Beno Udrih with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. With this defeat, the Kings are adding their second consecutive lost and occupy the 10th place in the Western Conference with a 9-10 record. The Heat, on the other hand, broke their losing streak and added their 11th victory of the season to take the 5th place in the Eastern Conference with an 11-9 record.
